This portfolio will become a history of the students' progress in class and must be kept intactcontaining all completed work. During the quarter, it will be available to students, administration, and parents as an indication of learning, skill level, and the students' commitment to work. ASSIGNMENTS/Weekly Homework DrawingsEach Friday you will be responsible for a completed drawing that will be done outside of class. All drawing subjects will be assigned and posted on the board and should be done carefully, allowing time to complete a well-executed work of art. Use the whole paper, shade, and make the drawing as realistic as possible. An artist statement will be written on the back of the drawing. This statement is a discussion of your own workthe choices you made, whether good or bad, about how and why it was created. You will discuss why you chose the subject matter you did, how you chose to represent it, what it MEANS to you, what you hope it means to the viewer (the message you want it to convey), and how successful you think the overall piece to be. These statements are to be not less than 50 words. Individual In-Class AssignmentsStudents will spend class time learning about various art styles, techniques, periods and artists as well as completing works of art representative of these lessons. The due dates for all class work will be posted and all requirements are to be adhered to without exception! Each completed class project will be turned in for a final grade accompanied by a written artist statement (see hand-out). Students must keep up and not fall behind. Students will turn their signed project in on the due date. Late work will be graded with a 5 pt. reduction for each day late! RULES All school rules stated in the student handbook apply.
