Women's Committee on Fine Arts of Mount Dora Valentine's Day Luncheon -2/13/09

Three outstanding Fine Arts students from CH&BS along with their art teacher were invited to be the featured guests at the Women’s Committee on Fine Arts of Mount Dora Valentine Luncheon, Friday, February 13th.  These young women were just some of our students who received scholarships from this organization at last year’s awards ceremony.

The students’ art teacher, Ms. Judy Langgood, was invited to speak to the Women’s Committee this year on  the need for advocacy for all the fine arts in our schools, informing them about the wonderful programs available at CH&BS.  Ms. Langgood introduced Alma Guyton and Sara Montgomery—both sophomores this year—who showed several pieces of their artwork and described to the audience the process of creating them.  Rebecca True, a music scholarship recipient and one of the leads in the upcoming school musical, “Fiddler on the Roof” played two clarinet pieces and spoke about her college plans and her goal of becoming a music teacher.

MOUNT DORA ART STROLL - 10/08

This Fall's Art Stroll came at a time when the art students hadn't had much time to accumulate a portfolio, so this time we exhibited the Photography Class's first quarter work.  Three students wond ribbons--Rachel Snider won a first place for Black and White, Stephanie Rouinfar won 2nd place, and Rachel Suggs won a 1st for her digital work.

Tara Staton was a great success as she played and sang for the strollers for the entire evening.  CH&BS couldn't have asked for better 'ambassadors for the arts!'

MOUNT DORA ART STROLL - 4/08

4 CH&BS students showed their paintings, drawings, ceramic pieces and photography downtown this past spring at the second Mount Dora Art Stroll.  Prizes were awarded and several students sold their work.  Kelsey Collins won a 1st place for her ceramic giraffes and a 1st AND a 2nd place for her photography.   Check out the Band page to see the CH&BS musicians who took part....
