Lugar Cottage

Keith and Kelly Robinett are the newest house parents at Christian Home & Bible School. They are excited to be working with the children in Lugar Cottage. They have two children, Tristan, 6 and Chloe, 10 months, who now have six new brothers and sisters. Keith and Kelly come to CH&BS from the South 14th Street Church of Christ in Leesburg, where he was a youth minister and she was the church secretary.

The Robinetts love the CH&BS ministry, because Keith grew up in the Children’s Home. He was 10 years old when he first arrived on campus and he graduated with the CH&BS class of 1986. He always wanted to return and encourage the children. Keith understands how the children feel and what they are going through. This is one reason why he wanted to be a house parent. Another important reason that brought them to CH&BS was Kaelen, their sweet niece who lives in Lugar Cottage. Keith and Kelly wanted her to be a part of their family.

The Robinetts have special goals for the children in their care. They start their day all together at the breakfast table with a morning devotional making sure that God is first in their lives. They want the children to work together and be unified as a team. Believing that outside activities and community service are important, Keith and Kelly are teaching the children to give service to others. They weeded the yard of one kind lady and she treated them to a swimming party. They are learning at an early age that blessings come from helping others.

Keith remembers his house parents, Ed and Randi Kelly, and how they encouraged him and believed in him. "My dorm parents really affected my life. They let me make my own decisions and deal with the consequences if I made a wrong choice. They loved me and made time for me, as if I was their own son. That is the kind of house parents Kelly and I want to be," said Keith. Sometimes Keith believes he is hard on the children because he knows all their tricks. He understands their problems and the issues the children are dealing with.

Even though the Robinetts are rookie house parents, they appreciate the incredible love and support they receive at Christian Home & Bible School. "The children really are like our own kids. We really miss them when we have time off and so do Tristan and Chloe. We all wonder what is going on back at Lugar," said Kelly.
