Burton Cottage
“My dad beat us
up when he got mad ... and he got mad a lot. So, they
wanted us to be in a safe place and this is
the safest place for us,” one girl’s
description of her new home in Burton Cottage.
School-age girls find a loving, safe and warm home
when they move into this house. Met by experienced houseparents, the immediate
care each girl receives helps them overcome both their personal and family problems.
Supported
by counselors, social workers and loving Christian houseparents,
these young ladies discover
the true meaning
of home. “We want them to know they
are important to us. That we care about
them and
want to help them,” states Cathy
Brown, Burton housemom. Living in this
spacious
house, each girl is able to continue their
education,
develop appropriate life skills and resolve
emotional, spiritual and relational issues.
Burton Cottage is large enough
to accommodate 8-10 young ladies in five bedrooms,
yet small enough
to provide them with the cozy feelings
of family … laughter,
sharing and encouragement to strengthen
their individual talents, hopes and personalities.
Every
day is a new adventure as they complete
assigned chores, participate in daily Bible
studies and contributes to the family structure
while learning lessons in integrity, responsibility
and self-development. Values such as flexibility,
patience and faith are modeled by the houseparents,
Rick and Cathy Brown, as they help these
young ladies make better choices and develop
her
own faith and discover God’s grace.
