Education
“My
life was changed because I had teachers who cared
about me and spent time helping me,” comments
Sam, father and designer, who is also an alumni
of Mount Dora Children’s Home.
First Things First
An educational environment built
on Christian character, family values and academic
excellence provides
wonderful new opportunities for our children
to rediscover the joys of learning and the power
of
knowledge.
For various reasons, many of our children
arrive on campus lagging behind in their academic
pursuits. Initially, prior classroom failures,
learning embarrassments
and frustration prevent these children from
realizing their dreams and hopes. Smaller
class sizes, personalized
attention from their teachers, clear expectations
and patient tutors slowly change their pessimistic
outlooks into hopeful realities.
Eventually,
several children make the A/B Honor Roll every
nine week grading period
during a typical
school year. Inspired by these successes,
many of our children will graduate, attend
college
to pursue advanced degrees and lead successful
professional
lives because a teacher took the time to
care.
