“I don’t understand why my mom doesn’t
love me. That’s why I do bad things sometimes
to let her know that hurts,” shares 8-year
old David, who has learned a better way to handle
his anger now.
Making Life OK Again
Too many children are not
safe in their own homes today. As a result of
the abuse, neglect, abandonment
and other trauma inflicted on their young lives,
they face behavioral, developmental and emotional
problems.
These children also face embarrassment,
shame and confusion over the suffering they endure
in their
homes. The internal conflict between a child’s
love and loyalty to people willing to manipulate
their trust, exploit their trust and destroy
their hope finds these same children expressing
itself
in varying negative attitudes and actions.
Sadly, this results in lifestyle choices
that continue
their downward spiral in life.
They enter
a new world filled with hope and promise
when they arrive on the campus of
Mount Dora
Children’s
Home. A vital part of our ministry with children
includes addressing their emotional, behavioral
and social needs. That’s why personalized
therapeutic counseling is included in every
child’s
service plan.
They receive the nurturing,
support and personal care previously denied
their young lives. Our staff is dedicated to help each child
achieve
success.
We promote their individual talents and
provide the support they crave.
